rBST Explained

rBST (Bovine Samatropin) also known as BGH (Bovine Growth Hormone) was approved by the FDA for sale and use with dairy cattle starting February 4, 1994. Driftwood Dairy and the dairy industry know that there is absolutely no difference in milk from rBST supplemented herds as compared to non-rBST supplemented herds, and that there are no health risks involved. However, we have instructed our milk supplier that we want our raw milk only from herds that do not supplement with rBST. The individual dairymen will be monitored by our supplier. If you have any questions regarding rBST, you may have them answered by contacting the Driftwood Dairy Sales Department at (626) 444-9591.
